The Friends of McCormick’s Creek State Park or Friends as we like to say, held its Charter Membership meeting on November 8th, 2003. The steering committee, comprised of community leaders and a park liaison, guided the transformation of the pre-existing Friends of Owen County to create this new partnership organization.

The Friends of McCormick’s Creek State Park was officially established on October 28, 2004.

Through the years the group has steadily grown to about 90 active or sustaining members, mostly from Indiana but also from nine other states.

Members of the Friends have been active in contributing support to major projects and in providing volunteers to the many events at McCormick’s Creek State Park.
